Cookie Policy
Italy Made Clear Last updated: [DATE]
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Italy Made Clear uses, what they do, and how you can control them.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your login state or preferences — and to understand how the site is being used.
"Similar technologies" include local storage (a browser feature used to store data without an expiry date) and pixel tags. Where we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we mean cookies and similar technologies collectively.
2. Cookie categories
We use two categories of cookies:
Category 1: Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the Service to function. They cannot be switched off because without them the Service does not work. They do not track you for marketing purposes.
| Cookie / technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication token | Supabase (via Italy Made Clear) | Keeps you logged in to your account during and between sessions. Without this, you would be asked to log in on every page. | Session / 7 days (persistent on "remember me") |
| Session state | Supabase (via Italy Made Clear) | Maintains your active session and subscription state to serve the correct features | Session |
| CSRF token | Italy Made Clear | Protects form submissions against cross-site request forgery attacks | Session |
These are set by us (first-party) or by Supabase acting as our infrastructure provider. They contain no information usable for advertising.
Category 2: Analytics
These cookies help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is designed to be privacy-friendly:
- It does not use cookies on your device
- It does not create individual user profiles
- It does not track you across other websites
- It works by aggregating page view data server-side without storing identifying information
Because Vercel Web Analytics does not set cookies or create cross-site profiles, it does not require your consent under the ePrivacy Directive in most EU/UK interpretations. We include it here for full transparency.
| Technology | Provider | What it collects | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel Web Analytics | Vercel, Inc. | Page views, referrer, browser type, country — aggregated, not linked to your identity | Not stored on device |
If we add any cookie-based analytics tool in future, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested through the cookie banner.
3. Cookies we do not use
We do not use:
- Advertising or targeting cookies — no third-party ad networks
- Social media tracking pixels — no Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or equivalent
- Retargeting cookies — we do not track you after you leave the Service
- Profiling cookies — no third-party behavioural profiling
4. Consent
Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent — they are required for the Service to function, and using the Service implies acceptance of their use.
Analytics cookies (if any are added in future that require consent) will be set only after you actively accept them via the consent banner. You can change your choice at any time — see Section 5.
5. How to control cookies
Via our consent banner
When you first visit Italy Made Clear, a cookie banner allows you to:
- Accept all cookies
- Reject non-essential cookies
- Manage your preferences by category
You can revisit these preferences at any time via the Cookie preferences link in the site footer.
Via your browser
All modern browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. This includes viewing existing cookies, blocking cookies from specific sites, and deleting all stored cookies.
